Description

This committee provides an ethical forum for its students, faculty, various stakeholders, and other actors in health sciences education. The committee’s mission also includes promoting the teaching of theoretical ethics and practical application in clinical placements, in collaboration with the departments and the academic committee.

Objectives

  • To propose, revise, and ensure the implementation of the various charters related to respecting ethical principles in the daily activities of the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis.
  • To promote a culture of bioethics within the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis in basic and continuing education programs.
  • To promote the teaching of bioethics.
  • To help the Faculty of Medicine stakeholders regarding the ethical framework for teaching, research, and practice

Responsible for providing the ethics committee with opinions on scientific research.

Teaching subcommittee

Responsible for participating in the organization of theoretical and practical teaching within the FMT: ethics immersion internships, training seminars for teachers, validation ethics reasoning learning projects, etc.

Ethics Space

responsible for the exchange platform. The Ethics Space organizes meetings, conferences, and other events and/or provides resources for discussion.

Past Activities 

  • Organization of ethics immersion internships for first-year students
  • Organization of workshops for the faculty teachers
  • Organization of public conferences and debates on various topics raising ethical issues: assisted reproductive technology (ART), end-of-life care, violence in healthcare settings, ethics of teaching, ethical challenges of using artificial intelligence (AI), etc.

Future Projects

  • Organizing conferences and debates that extend to other non-medical disciplines
  • Strengthening ethics education within the Faculty of Medicine
  • Proposing and implementing an ethical charter for the use of AI in teaching and research at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis.
