Objectives
  1. Describe the fundamental concept of “Yin-Yang” theory in TCM and its practical application.
  2. Recall the classification of the five elements and their clinical application.
  3. Describe the origin, functions and classification of “energy”.
  4. Cite pathological changes in energy.
  5. Describe the origin, functions and pathological changes in “blood”.
  6. Describe the origin, functions and pathological changes of “body fluids”.
  7. Recall the basics of the “organ-entrails” theory.
  8. Recall the pathophysiology of “organs” (heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys, etc.) and “entrails”(stomach, small intestine, large intestine, bladder, etc.).
  9. Recall the basics of TCM diagnosis, based on questioning, inspection of the “Shen” (appearance and complexion) and tongue, auscultation, superficial palpation and pulse palpation.
  10. Describe the “Outside-In” syndrome.
  11. Describe “Cold-Heat” syndrome.
  12. Describe “Emptiness-plenitude” syndrome.
  13. Describe “Yin-Yang” syndrome.
  14. List the bases of dialectical diagnosis of organ-entestine diseases (spleen-stomach, heart-small intestine, lung-large intestine, liver-bladder and kidney-bladder).
  15. Recall the basics of Meridian theory.
  16. Describe the distribution and pathways of the various Meridians.
  17. Define acupuncture points, specifying their classification and functions.
  18. Describe the methods for locating acupuncture points.
  19. List the most commonly used points for each meridian, specifying their location and therapeutic indications.
  20. Describe the different methods and techniques of needling and moxibustion, specifying the precautions to take before and after treatment.
  21. Review the structure and dimensions of the different needling needles.
  22. Describe the methods of preparation for needling and needle handling.
  23. List the main incidents and accidents that can complicate acupuncture and specify the means to remedy them.
  24. List the general principles governing the selection of acupuncture points and their combinations, as well as the use of specific points. 25. Specify the main acupuncture points and techniques indicated for the main pathological conditions encountered in current practice:
    ➢ Neuro-psychiatric pathologies: Headaches, facial paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia, hemiplegia, insomnia, depression, stress.
    ➢ ENT & respiratory pathologies: Asthma, flu and cough syndrome, vertigo, deafness, tinnitus, sinusitis, dental pain, etc.
    ➢ Osteo-articular pathologies: Low back pain, sciatica, painful shoulder, stiff neck, tendonitis, gonarthrosis, “Bi” syndromes, sprain.
    ➢ Digestive pathologies: Diarrhea, constipation, epigastralgia, abdominal pain. ➢ Genitourinary pathology: enuresis, menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, spermatorrhea, impotence.

  • Pratical training : in the 2nd year, with 80 half-day sessions at the Acupuncture Center at the Mongi Slim Hospital La Marsa.
